Calculation method

This calculator uses the following planning method:

Estimated fill = (box volume − total product volume) × fill factor

Worked example

A 14 × 10 × 8 in box around one 10 × 6 × 4 in product leaves 880 in³. At a 1.0 fill factor, estimate 880 in³ of loose filled volume.

How to interpret the result

Use the empty-space share to spot oversized cartons. Convert the estimate into bags, paper, or dispensing settings with a bench trial.

Assumptions and limitations

Product volume is simplified to a rectangular block. The fill factor is an operational adjustment, not a material density specification.

Estimate only. Verify the packed result with actual materials and the current requirements of your supplier, marketplace, or carrier.
