What this calculator solves

Use Pallet Utilization to compare the summed case footprint area in one layer with the pallet footprint. It is an area-efficiency indicator, not a pattern solver. Cases per Pallet determines a simple grid count; utilization shows how much nominal area that entered count represents.

How to choose the inputs

Use the usable pallet length and width, finished case footprint, and the verified cases per layer. Keep all dimensions in one unit. If the pattern requires gaps, corner clearance, or no-load zones, reduce the usable footprint or evaluate the drawing separately.

How the calculation works

Footprint utilization = case footprint × cases per layer ÷ pallet footprint × 100

Assumptions and limitations

The calculation compares areas only and excludes placement geometry, mixed rotations, gaps, overhang, deck-board support, partial cases, containment, weight distribution, compression, and handling stability.
